I wanted to share a poem/prayer with you that I found on a website of peace prayers. The funny thing about this prayer/poem is that it doesn’t even use the word peace. And yet, all the things it mentions are things that can sow seeds of peace.

On This Day….

Mend a quarrel
Search out a forgotten friend
Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust
Write a love letter
Share some treasures
Give a soft answer
Encourage youth

Manifest your loyalty in a word or deed
Keep a promise
Find the time
Forego a grudge
Forgive an enemy
Listen
Apologize if you were wrong

Try to understand
Flout envy
Examine your demands on others
Think first of someone else
Appreciate, be kind, be gentle
Laugh a little more.
Deserve confidence

Take up arms against malice
Decry complacency
Express your gratitude
Worship your God
Gladden the heart of a child
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth

Speak your love
Speak it again
Speak it still again
Speak it still once again….

The world is really in need of peace right now and I believe that peace truly starts with each one of us. God calls us to peace, so let us live in a peaceful way – a way based on love and kindness and treating people with respect and dignity. When we speak our love – when we speak God’s love – in words, but also in our actions, we are planting seeds of peace. How will you plant seeds of peace today?
